Dutch manufacturer Tempress, which specialises in thermal processing equipment for the semiconductor industry, is taking a significant step in its international growth strategy. The company has received a €20 million investment from deeptech investor Jolt Capital and is simultaneously expanding its operations through the acquisition of SPT Microtechnologies USA.
An acquisition with international reach
Through the acquisition of SPT Microtechnologies, its subsidiaries in Germany and Taiwan will also come under the Tempress umbrella. This move broadens not only the company's technological portfolio but also its geographic footprint across key chip manufacturing regions. The presence in Taiwan is particularly strategic given the country's central role in global semiconductor production.
A stake for Jolt Capital
With the capital injection, Jolt Capital acquires a substantial stake in Tempress. The investor focuses on deeptech companies and backs firms that stand out technologically and aim to scale internationally. The combination of funding and expertise is intended to help Tempress build a broader European platform for semiconductor technology.
Relevance for manufacturing
The semiconductor sector is a critical link for the wider manufacturing industry, from automotive to industrial automation. Reliable processing equipment is essential to chip production. By increasing scale and pooling expertise, Tempress can respond to the growing demand for advanced production tools and reinforce its position in the supply chain.
The combination of a strong capital partner and a targeted acquisition aligns with Tempress's ambition to become a leading European player in the sector.
