The use of automated internal transport continues to grow, but many companies still struggle with coordinating different vehicles and systems. New software is now putting an end to that. Thanks to smart task allocation, predictive route planning and real-time fleet simulation, autonomous vehicles on the shop floor are being deployed more efficiently than ever before.

Without being tied to a specific manufacturer, different AGV and AMR types can work together through a single overarching system. That system manages routes in real time, assigns tasks based on priority and automatically recalculates when a vehicle is blocked or nearly finished with its assignment.

Strategic vehicle distribution prevents bottlenecks

One of the most notable innovations lies in the way tasks are distributed. The software strategically determines which vehicles are needed at which location and at what moment. This prevents congestion on the factory floor and keeps the material flow constantly moving.

Important tasks can be prioritised immediately by dynamically redistributing vehicles. Less urgent assignments are temporarily paused, so that the processes under the greatest time pressure are handled first.

Fewer unnecessary trips thanks to predictive insight

In addition to prioritisation, predictive task management also plays a key role. The software detects when a vehicle is about to complete its assignment and assigns it a nearby follow-up task in advance. This prevents unnecessary driving between production and charging stations, saving time and energy.

When a vehicle gets stuck due to obstacles or congestion, the system automatically selects an alternative route. Future routes are also adjusted accordingly, so that blockages are avoided.

Open integration into existing logistics systems

The latest generation of software has been developed with standard interfaces, making integration into existing systems straightforward. Support for protocols such as VDA 5050, MQTT and JSON ensures maximum flexibility — crucial for companies looking to expand their existing infrastructure with smart transport solutions.
